Maggie

Maggie is a short drama about Magdalena. The head of the only diner in purgatory, she serves customers their last meal before they head to either the great beyond or dreaded below. When a newlywed couple walks in the door, slated to go to hell, Maggie immediately sympathizes with them, and desperately tries to change their fate.

Shooting over one night at a tiny box diner in Southern New Jersey, that night reaffirmed so many of my philosophies on filmmaking. It was an unbelievable experience getting to personally connect with the cast, catering direction to their sensibilities and building on the characters as we went along. The faith placed in me as director made me work my hardest, not wanting to let anyone down. With a delay in work due to the coronavirus, being on set again reminded me of why I love film, and why I want to do this for the rest of my life. The connections made and moments experienced will never be forgotten by any of us on the crew, and will guide me through the next time I’m on set and beyond.

We raised over $2,500 for our IndieGoGo campaign to make this film a reality, and are now in post production. More details are on the way as we navigate our way through the editing room, curating that final draft before moving on to festivals later this year. I hope you’ll keep a look out for us and follow our journey!
